Another Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in San Francisco

I feel that it is my duty as a member of the San Francisco Bay Area community to keep the issue of hit-and-run collisions in the news, hoping that the culpable parties can be brought to justice and hoping that, if they are prosecuted, this will be a deterrent to further hit-and-run drivers. As a San Francisco Pedestrian Accident Attorney, I learn of way too many accidents to pedestrians. The most frustrating pedestrian accidents are when the person causing harm flees the scene. I always ask if the injured person may have suffered less harm had the person who…

Two San Jose Pedestrian Deaths Occured Within 12 Hours

I am sad to report that two pedestrian deaths occurred within 12 hours of each other in San Jose. The first was Friday, February 10, 2012 when a woman was struck and killed while walking on Meridian Avenue. She has been identified by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office as Carol Trevino, 57, of San Jose. The driver of the vehicle that hit her remained at the scene and was not arrested. Investigators do not think the driver was drunk and it’s unclear what caused the crash. The second fatal pedestrian accident occurred the following day on Saturday, February 11,…

San Francisco Paying Millions For Preventable Personal Injuries and Other Torts

It’s common knowledge that cities and counties across the San Francisco Bay Area are struggling to make their budgets. It’s also a fact, however, that millions of dollars are leaving city reserves each year because of legal payouts. Some examples are as follows: It costs an average of $23,000 when a piece of city property falls on someone. It costs an average of $10,000 when roots from city-owned trees grew in the sewer lines. It costs an average of $1,900 when a city vehicle hit a car. image of San Francisco by simeon schatz In less than five years,…

Mill Valley’s Worst Intersections for Bicycle Accidents

As an avid cyclist and as a parent residing in Mill Valley, CA, I’m particularly interested in learning the most dangerous intersections in my bicycle-friendly town. Mill Valley is very bicycle-oriented and I like to claim that Mill Valley is the birthplace of mountain biking. Mill Valley residents are, of course, familiar with bicycling groups zooming by on Saturday mornings, sometimes before 8:00 a.m. through our town, and finishing their rides in The Depot square. The mountain bikers tend to congregate on Mt. Tamalpais–all of its trails–at all hours of the day, trying to share the trail with often angry…

San Jose Motorcycle Crash Causes Severe Injuries

As a fellow motorcycle enthusiast and Bay Area Motorcycle Accident Attorney, I cringe every time I read about a serious motorcycle accident with severe injuries. On Thursday, May 31, 2012, a motorcycle injury accident occured in San Jose about 6:00 p.m. when an SUV struck the motorcycle traveling southbound on I-280 near the Meridian Avenue off-ramp, causing serious personal injuries to the motorcyclist. The injured motorcyslist was taken to Valley Medical Center. According to the CHP, the crash is still under investigation. Initial reports did not indicate that drugs or alcohol played a factor. Why do I report motorcycle
