Multiple Fatalities and Serious Personal Injuries in California Semi Truck Crash

I am sad to report that authorities confirm that in one California Semi Truck collision, four people, including two children, have suffered fatal injuries, and three others have suffered serious personal injuries in a two vehicle truck vs auto crash in Fresno County.

The truck crash occurred Wednesday, March 3rd, along Interstate 5 in Fresno County, north of Highway 33.

Investigators report that the driver of a Chrysler SUV, headed southbound on the interstate, drifted onto the west shoulder for a still unknown reason, slamming into the back of an 18 wheeler semi-truck – ejecting some of the SUV’s passengers onto the road.

Truckers familiar with Fresno County said they weren’t surprised to hear of another fatal crash involving a semi-truck.

They noted that more rest areas are needed along California’ Central Valley roadways – without them, truckers feel they have no other choice than to pull over on the side of already dangerous roadways to try and get some rest.

“A place to park, spend the night comfortably and not worry about having to park on the outside,” says Pete Vargas. “We need a safe place to park.”

At first glance, it would seem that the crash was completely the fault of the SUV driver, however most trucking experts will tell you that truckers cannot just park and rest anywhere they wish, especially when they are parked too close to the road. I don’t know all of the facts regarding this truck crash, however our truck accident attorneys have successfully represented clients who have either suffered catastrophic personal injuries or lost loved ones because a trucker has parked in an unsafe location. I feel very sympathetic for the trucker also if there was no good place to stop and rest, however I believe that it is the trucker’s job to plan ahead and to find somewhere safe to stop and rest, even if that requires some more effort. In order to determine if this trucker’s conduct caused or contributed to causing this tragic collision, this family needs to retain a truck accident lawyer who knows the rules of the road and who can help uncover the facts and the truth about what happened between this SUV driver and this Semi that night.
