Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

-Posted On May 5, 2025 In Motorcycle Accidents,Motorcycle Community-

George Choulos and Claude Wyle at Choulos Choulos and Wyle have made it a life’s mission to raise awareness about motorcycle safety in our community. By making those who have harmed motorcycle riders fully accountable for the serious personal injuries they have caused, our San Francisco motorcycle accident attorneys strive to change motorist behavior and to increase motorcycle safety. The message is clear, over and over again, we urge motorists to Watch for Motorcycles.

What is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month?

Each May, we observe Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, a tradition dating back to the early 1980s. As the weather warms, especially here in Northern California, motorcyclists are increasingly on the roads.

Life-Saving Motorcycle Safety Tips

That time is here: motorcycles are everywhere. So, we are using this blog to remind car and truck drivers to keep these easy, life-saving tips in mind this season to help reduce motorcycle accidents:

  •  Check your blind spots.
  •  Use your mirrors.
  •  Signal before turning or switching lanes.
  •  Give motorcycles more space than you would a car.
  • Be extra cautious when turning left- this is the #1 cause of fatal motorcycle crashes.
  • Report large potholes or other road defects to your city.
  • Remember to look for motorcycle riders in the lane next to you or between lanes. Lane splitting or sharing is 100% legal in California, and lane splitting actually decreases motorcycle crashes.
  • Don’t drive distracted!
  • Spread awareness.

Let’s work together to keep our roads safe. Share this to remind others to

WATCH FOR MOTORCYCLES.
